At Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College we aim to ensure that all our students meet their academic targets and fulfil their academic potential. All students are required to study Mathematics and Physics in order to prepare them for the technical and engineering degrees that they will follow on completion of their A levels. There is a choice of 11 Core subjects on offer at Welbeck.
Lower sixth students study four AS level subjects. Mathematics and physics are compulsory. Mathematics will be studied for six periods per week and all other subjects are taught for five periods a week. In their upper sixth year students have the choice of continuing with four A level subjects, or they can drop an AS level (not Mathematics or Physics) and take up an enrichment subject.
In addition to the academic programme students study Physical Education (PE), Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHCE). The PSHCE course emphasizes moral, spiritual and leadership development.
