Examination Board: AQA (Website) Why study Physics? To fulfill the exciting and demanding role of a technical officer in any of the armed services of this country, or as an engineer in the civil service, you need to acquire and develop a unique blend of analytical and practical skills. Each of the armed services has a vast amount of technical equipment which needs to be maintained, deployed and developed. You could find yourself responsible for the latest state of the art tank, or be involved in the design of tomorrow’s jet fighter, or become the chief engineer of a key warship in our naval fleet. As an engineer working for the Civil service you could be involved in a wide range of exciting and demanding challenges in any aspect of engineering ranging from mechanical to civil engineering. The study of Physics is essential if you have a strong ambition to pursue any of these areas. Here at Welbeck we offer a Physics course to AS and A2 level which will give you a strong foundation upon which to launch your engineering career, to university and beyond. The modules we study are heavily biased towards Engineering and encompass many of the disciplines needed by today’s technical officers and civil service engineers respectively. Practical skills are acquired progressively throughout the course and as a result we help students to move on to degree level with enormous technical potential. |
