Career Profiles
Royal Navy Engineer Officers thrive in some of the most demanding workplaces around the world, on board one of our high-tech nuclear submarines or ships.
You'll be responsible for vital equipment from sensitive electronics and combat systems to massive gas-turbine engines or a nuclear reactor. On top of providing expertise, you'll be leading a team of highly skilled technicians ensuring all this technology stays operational, even when you're under pressure.
Working on our Ships
As a Marine or Weapons Engineer Officer on one of our ships, you could be working in a cutting-edge Type 45 Destroyer like HMS Daring. Reporting directly to the Captain, you'll be responsible for ensuring the combat or propulsion systems are operational and at maximum efficiency – in conflict, humanitarian and during peacetime missions.
Working on our Nuclear Submarines
As a Marine or Weapons Engineer Officer Submariner, you'll be working in one of our Trident Missile-carrying submarines or the latest Astute-class submarines. You'll report directly to the Captain and be responsible for a number of systems, including weapons or support and even a nuclear reactor.
Working on our Aircraft
As an Air Engineer Officer you'll be responsible for the people and hardware that keep the Fleet Air Arm flying on board one of our ships or air stations. On an operational squadron, you'll maintain, install and test propulsion, weapon, navigation, communications and control systems to keep aircraft operational and their teams safe.
Wherever you go and whatever stage of your career you are at, the Royal Navy will offer support, stability and excitement that you will not find anywhere else.
