Royal British Legion Poppy Collection at Leicester Tigers v London Irish (November 2011)

On Saturday 5th November 25 students departed for Welford Road, home of the Leicester Tigers in order to raise money for the Royal British Legion through their annual Poppy Appeal. We arrived at the ground and were quickly briefed on what we needed to do. Once we were given our donation boxes we spread out across the ground – some even managed to find themselves in the Hospitality Area. After 2 hours of work we finally headed back inside the ground with our boxes to find out that we had successfully raised more than £4500 in donations! After watching the match and the post-match fireworks we were then invited back to meet the players, with such greats as Dan Cole and Martin Castrogiavani. However, much to the girls’ disappointment Toby Flood was not present. Nevertheless, it was a great day and we all sincerely hope this continues to be an annual event!
