Red Nose Day (March 2011)
On Friday 18th March our College contributed to this year’s Comic Relief by dressing up to represent one of the three themed noses on sale this year - a monster, a geek or a pirate. There were a number of pirates (including Ma’am Tudge with her hat and sword!) to those who had made their very own boat to sit in for the day! All those with a less creative side at least joined in the fun and wore an element of red clothing.
To earn the privilege of being able to escape our uniform for the day you had to buy a red nose, and of course House pride and competition became the main motivation with a competition between the Houses as to which one could buy the most red noses. Portland and Trenchard won this competition and both Houses were given two boxes of chocolates each as prizes!
There was a variety of activities organised to raise funds for the appeal such as a cake sale in the Staff Common Room and Learning Resource Centre, and Ma’am Burgess was offering a Red Nose Day themed nail treatment for all those who wanted fabulous nails for the upcoming Exeat.
Planning for the day and activities around it would not have been so efficient without the hard work of Ma’am Arthur and Ma’am Clarke. Both spent a lot of time organising the day to ensure that there was a variety of options for us to contribute to. In total we raised £506, a great success!
