Educational Areas

The academic facilities at Welbeck DSFC are designed to enable students to study in a twenty first century learning environment. All students are issued with a “College laptop” when they arrive, and all of the academic wing has wireless access to the internet and our intranet. All rooms are networked and each has a projector, screen, computer and remote control facilities. Each room also has been designed to cushion sound to eliminate unwanted sound contamination.

Faculty of Mathematics and Computing.

As Mathematics is such an important subject at Welbeck, it has it’s own suite of seven purpose built classrooms with targeted displays. It occupies the entire first floor section of the academic wing. Computing has two fully fitted computer rooms with twenty computers in each. We also have an e-learning computer room. The faculty also has a work room for all the staff and a head of faculty office.

Faculty of Physics.

The Physics faculty has five large laboratories, a class room, a dark room, a prep room and a staff social area. It has a great deal of equipment that is used for demonstrations and class practical sessions.

Faculty of Science and Technology.

This area comprises of two large fully fitted Chemistry labs, a Biology lab, two purpose built Electronics rooms, a digital Electronics computer suite, and a suite of Design Technology rooms including a workshop with CAD equipment, a teaching lab, a drawing room, and a small lecture room. The faculty also has a microscope room, a prep room, a staff work room and an office for the head of faculty.

Faculty of Arts.

The Arts faculty has two specially designed Geography rooms, two Government & Politics rooms, a History room and a Business Studies room. It also has a staff work room and an office for the head of faculty. Although Music is not taught as an “academic” subject, we do have music lessons and have three, sound proofed, practise rooms.

Sport & Physical Education.

As an academic subject, Sport & PE has it’s own class room together with all of our sporting/ fitness facilities.
