As the primary function of the college is to provide future technical officers for the Ministry of Defence we have a large range
of military facilities permanently based on site. These facilities include....
Obstacle Course: Standard class B Military Obstacle course with seven obstacles. Obstacle consist of a gate vault, high wall,
two ditches, low wall, cat walk and confidence jump. An additional wall has recently been added to simulate climbing
through a window. The obstacle course can also be utilised for the running of command tasks and it’s use is only limited
by imagination. The College Sergeant Major Instructor is responsible for the obstacle course and regularly takes students
during CCF Training and PT Lessons.
Eight Lane Air Rifle Range: An area of the College grounds has been marked out for the safe use of air rifle shooting.
Shooting is conducted during CCF training and as a College General Activity. The College owns eight S40 Air Arms bolt
action magazine fed air rifles. These are very popular with the students.
Command Tasks: The College has four purpose built command tasks for use during CCF training and leadership development.
All of the tasks have been designed so that they can be used in a variety of ways and there is no standard solution
to any of the tasks. As well as there being a variety of scenarios for each task there is also an abundance of different
equipment for each task. In addition the college has a large amount of barrels, ropes, planks and tyres etc to build
and run several different smaller command tasks around the College grounds.
High Ropes Course: This is a purpose built 12m high “high ropes confidence course” with Jacobs ladder, trapeze,
totem poles, high swing, fan jump, balance beam and high wire walk. The High Ropes Course is used almost every
Friday for leadership training and at various time during the CCF programme. Several of the CCF staff are trained
in the use of the course and are adept at developing students through challenging and fun exercises on each of
the different tasks. This facility is designed to stretch the students in their physical ability, confidence and team work.
Armoury: Purpose built armoury used for the secure storage of L98A2 Cadet Rifle’s. The armoury is controlled
by the College Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant (RQMS). Used on most CCF training afternoons.

with sufficient kit to deploy 180 students on Exercise. Equipped with Infantry bergans, webbing, Kevlar
helmets and complete sleeping systems. Other items for use include Motorola radios, tentage and compasses.
