At Welbeck we firmly believe in the old adage of 'work hard and play hard' and therefore the college has been designed to
incorporate an outstanding range of social facilities for its students. We believe it is important for teenagers to be able
to relax in the homely environment of their boarding houses, so each house common room is equipped with a range of comfortable
seating on which the students can relax and watch TV, listen to music or even play table tennis or pool. Some prefer to
socialise around the tables in their house kitchenette facilities where they can make hot drinks, toast or even a microwave meal.
On Wednesday and weekend evenings students can take full advantage of the Quorum Club where a licensed bar serves
alcohol to those who are over the age of 18, and hot snacks can be enjoyed in front of the TV or films which are
projected onto a big screen. The Quorum Club also offers a selection of games including Air Hockey, Pool, Table
Football, Arcade Games or the Nintendo Wii for which a variety games can be borrowed from the Learning Resources Centre.
The students are particularly adept at organising their own social events for their own houses which can range
from informal pizza and beer evenings, to formal mess dinners or house nights out to a local restaurant or theatrical
production. The Quorum Club also plays host to whole college social events such as themed party nights with
discos or rock bands which provide a welcome opportunity for the students to let off steam at the end of a busy week.
