Way of Life
The college has a unique programme of personal, physical and intellectual development which provides our students with a rounded education specifically designed to meet the needs of today’s modern technical Armed Forces, and the demands of the 21st century technical world.
By subscribing to this ‘way of life’ everyone will get the most out of the boarding experience; students will recognise that deep and long lasting relationships, based on respect and mutual trust, will stay with them long after the leave the college. There is a balance between privacy and sharing and between freedom and guidance. A sense of belonging and feeling at home is achieved through the activities of both the students and staff who work together to generate healthy and secure surroundings.
There are appropriate levels of communication to allow parents, students and staff to converse with each other in order to support the holistic development of each student in the college. This stable and disciplined environment provides the appropriate structure to promote the importance of learning and the growth of individuals in a caring community where everyone feels valued. Given the range of people within the college community their rights, culture and beliefs will be treated with respect and sensitivity where discipline will be administered fairly and consistently. It will be expected that everyone has a high level of self-discipline, self-reliance and be proactive in their own development.
The personal development of the student is a strength of the college, in particular their moral and social development and their leadership qualities.

The ‘Welbeck Experience’ caters for young men and women who are looking for something special, something which is more than the average sixth form experience. Alongside academic study, students will learn how to develop loyalty and teamwork, as well as how to communicate as leaders.
The programme of extra-curricular activities includes a heavy emphasis on sport and fitness including outward-bound activities. In addition, all Welbeck students join the Combined Cadet Force and take part in regular military training activities, including a range of adventurous training pursuits.
Having demonstrated that you have the personal skills to adapt to a residential environment you will continue to develop respect for the other members of the community and will be encouraged to contribute positively to all aspects of college life.
At Welbeck you will work hard, play hard and be encouraged to make the best of yourself.
