Health and Welfare
The health and welfare of the students is paramount and the college has well established pastoral and medical procedures to ensure the students receive the best possible care.
There is an on-site Medical Centre, staffed by a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals, who provide a 24 hour, 7 days a week service (during term time).
Students are required to register with the College Medical Officer who will visit the college twice weekly. In addition to this there is on site provision for physiotherapy treatment should the need arise.
The Medical Centre:-
- Holds nurse led surgeries three times a day. Students requiring medical attention outside of surgery hours will be seen by special arrangement.
- Provides first aid for accidents and sporting injuries.
- Every day publishes a list of permissible activities for students who are receiving medical care.
- Arranges appointments with other health care professionals, for example, the dentist, the optician or the podiatrist.
- Has in-patient facilities comprising of a male and a female ward and two single bed isolation wards.
- Is an integral part of the pastoral care team, providing support whilst maintaining confidentiality.
- Provides a travel vaccine and immunisation service.
The whole site is covered by Health & Safety Legislation. Boarding and welfare is covered by the Boarding Standards and CSCI policies and procedures. The college will ensure that all the working areas are safe and that all activities carried out in these areas have been subjected to stringent Risk Assessments by qualified staff. The same will be true for any external activities.
