Tough Guy (January 2007)
On Sunday 28th January, 15 daring Welbexians boarded the college transport to travel the hour and a half to Wolverhampton in Staffordshire, to try what some think is the toughest challenge ever!
Named Welbeck Wetneck’s, we began the ‘Tough Guy Challenge 2007’, the fearful 7 mile route, complete with difficult obstacles along the way. There were many walls that needed to be climbed, hills to run over, pools of water and mud to swim in and fire to jump through.
The course was demanding and required a lot of effort both physically and mentally, especially due to the deep puddles of mud and shoes lost along the way! However, the weather was perfect for us during the event as it was mild, compared to the snow that followed the week after.
Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the hard work, and a great sense of achievement was felt, especially as the Welbeck Wetneck’s were the youngest team to ever compete and complete the challenge.
The course took energy, enthusiasm, determination and most of all teamwork from the Welbexians to complete this, and no matter how tired or hurting we were, we kept smiling! Nothing compared to the feeling everyone had, being able to wear the medal and say “I am a Tough Guy!”
