On Saturday 17 May, by kind permission of the Principal, the Old Welbexian Association held the 94th President's Dinner at the new College in Loughborough. We had a splendid night and the 25 OWs thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to mix and dine with the leaving Entry - 2006E.
Colonel David Hudson 55E, the OWA President, presided and as is the custom, young OW officers from RE, R SIGNALS, RLC and REME presented short career biographies.
Congratulations to Ross Offord who was voted as the OWA Prize winner for 08. This award is marks an 'outstanding all round contribution' to life at the College. He proudly received his engraved glass tankard.
We must also mention Dr Bill Palmer. After much persuasion from the Chairman, Colonel Steve Vickery 55E, Dr Bill attended the Dinner and was duly presented with a montage of photographs from the 'old' Welbeck Abbey. In recognition of his magnificent 35 years service, we felt it only appropriate to mark his well-deserved retirement. In reply, Dr Bill gave one of the best speeches I have ever heard - and I've heard a few.
