Nelson House Outing (February 2011)

On Saturday 12th February Nelson House travelled the short distance to Leicester to watch the Leicester Riders Basketball Team take on Guildford Heat. After a long week we were glad to let our hair down, watch some sport and have a great time. The atmosphere on the coach was fantastic, with everyone unsure of what to expect from a basketball game as none of us had ever been before. After a small delay due to the coach breaking down we arrived just in time to grab our seats and watch the start of the game.
The game started well with everyone getting into the action - there was a lot of good play and it was fantastic to watch. The game was made up of 4 quarters, each lasting 20 minutes and during the breaks there were cheerleaders and refreshments along with chances to win the raffle. One lucky Nelsoner, Jess Palfrey, brought raffle tickets and walked away with £135! Leicester started well with the first quarter being very close and after that Leicester took the lead and continued to dominate right through the match. The final score was 98-64 to Leicester – a fantastic performance by the Home team!
It was a great experience and a first for most of us, and we would all agree in saying that we would love to go again as we had such a brilliant time!
