Stirling Social to Red Hot World Buffet (May 2008)
Stirling house took a well deserved break with a social trip into Nottingham to the ‘Red Hot World Buffet’ which offered as many plates of different varieties of food from around the world as people could eat. After finding our way, Stirling students and staff arrived at the restaurant ready for a taste of something different. Starting with drinks, it wasn’t long before everybody, hungry after a Saturday afternoon of sport, made their way to discover the food that was on offer. Including Thai, Indian, Mediterranean, Chinese and Italian cuisine, the students were definitely spoilt for choice, with many different platefuls testing each part of the world.
After many helpings of different mains, the desserts were then devoured with platefuls of cheesecake, fruit and crumble being piled high. However, the definite favourite was of course the chocolate fountain which was there to finish off a well stuffed 68 students and staff.
After such a good meal with half an hour’s break and feeling full, in true Welbeck style it was time to work some of it off by visiting the Nottingham Ice Centre for some ice skating. After getting skates, students took to the ice with confidence…and some with not so much confidence. However, even the few that had never had a go were out there taking their chances on the ice! As the evening continued and confidence grew games and competitions started to take place with races and attempting to skate backwards. The evening seemed to fly by with everybody having a really enjoyable time, but, as always time does fly when you’re having fun and it was time to hand back the skates and find the coach to take us home.
The evening was given a perfect finish by the first warm weather of the year as we piled out of the ice rink, which summed up what a great relaxing evening it had been with a lot of laughter included!
Thanks go to James Wilyman, shadow socials prefect, and to Mr Copley and Mr Walsh for taking all 68 of us on such a good social outing, as it definitely was a highlight for the end of the week.
