Badminton is a popular sport for students at Welbeck, with as many as 50 students, of all abilities, taking it up. It runs throughout the Autumn Term and there are four fully equipped indoor badminton courts for use, both in Games time and for use after-lessons and after prep. The students benefit from the expertise of the coach, Tom Armstrong, a top England player himself.

The games sessions include a vigorous fitness training warm-up session followed by skills and drills.

As well as an annual Interhouse Badminton Competition, there is often a student-run singles competition ladder which takes place in the Autumn and Spring terms. The Boys Team has played in a Schools League in recent years, which has given them some challenging match competition. Friendly matches are also arranged from time to time, both for the Girls and Boys Teams.
