On Wednesday 27th October Welbeck’s Christian Union joined forces with Woodhouse Eaves Evangelical Baptist Church to attend the 23rd Christian Praise event at De Montfort Hall in Leicester.
Unsure of what to expect, we all managed to meet on time and arrive at the venue with plenty of time to spare. Despite the different denominations represented among us we all gained something from the event and nobody felt out of place. The worship section came as a huge surprise to those not accustomed to such a charismatic format, nevertheless we contributed enthusiastically throughout each song. An excellent band and choir played and sang both popular and less well known songs which are now possible favourites for some of our CU members.
The evening’s theme was ‘Evangelism’ and the speaker (Stephen Gaukroger) was really easy to listen to. He was a very dynamic speaker who had a message for everyone.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and those who haven’t yet attended events such as Soul Survivor and Spring Harvest now have a real excitement about the possibility of going to these events next Summer.
