House Boarding Assistant

Hours: Monday and Tuesday 8 – 4, Wednesday 7 – 4 and Thursday and Friday 8 – 4

Reporting To: Housemaster / Housemistress

Job Outline:  The House Boarding Assistant will undertake a range of duties and provide Welbeck DSFC a dedicated and responsible adult in the boarding house during teaching hours, when students may be in the houses for private study or over scheduled breaks. The priority for the House Boarding Assistant will be to provide an immediate pastoral point of contact for students’ concerns and problems. They will be attuned to issues of emotional health and well-being, as appropriate to young people aged between 16 and 18. The role is non-residential and does not involve unsociable hours.

Role Requirements:

Essential

  • The maturity and suitability for a role in supporting the care of young people living away from home.
  •  Experience working with young people.
  • The highest levels of discretion, confidentiality, tact, diplomacy and integrity.
  •  Sensitivity, compassion and understanding.
  • An understanding of emotional health and wellbeing.
  • Sound levels of literacy and numeracy with GCSE/O’levels in English and Maths preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  •  The emotional intelligence to empathise, identify and refer as circumstances demand.
  • An awareness of the challenges of social media.

Desirable

  •  ECDL.

Legal

  • Enhanced DBS check will be undertaken before post holder assumes post.

Maintenance Handyperson

Position Overview: Support a contract team in the provision of a high quality general maintenance service; ensuring the upkeep of designated areas by carrying out general and specific duties as directed in line with the agreed contract specification.

Lifeguard

Hours: Various hours per week during term time on a zero hours contract.  Shifts are allocated between a team of lifeguards and include a combination of: Weekday early morning 0600 – 0730; evening 2100 – 2230; weekend sessions (various times) and an opportunity for further hours during the holiday period.

Package: £12 per hour

Reporting to: Head of Co-Curriculum / College Support Manager

Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Outline: The role will involve sole responsibility for the College Pool during the shift.  Lifeguard responsibility will be for College students (aged 16 – 18) during recreational swimming sessions and potentially some third party lifeguarding for various user groups.

Role Requirements:

  Essential

  • National/RLSS Pool Lifeguard Certificate or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

 Desirable

  • Full Clean Driving Licence

Catering Assistant

Hours: 38.75 per week, 39 weeks per year, 5 days from 7 which includes weekends on a rota basis.

Outline Job Description: To work within the soft services at the college. This role will be predominately catering with extra duties within retail and elsewhere in the college as required. Providing the highest level of customer service within your areas of responsibility in line with Interserve’s centre of excellence specification, the areas will include all catering activities within the college, and other duties as directed by your line manager to meet the requirements of the contract’s  Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).

Reporting to: Catering Manager

Key Skills:

  • Retail qualifications or previous retail experience, Food Hygiene Level 2 are desirable although full training will be given.
  • Must be motivated and enthusiastic with a passion to deliver exceptional customer service
  • Strong Attention to Detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Must be flexible in outlook as the work is varied and could be at any location within the college or student accommodation
