Welbeck Private Scheme [WPS]
WPS Registration Day - 21st April, 2012
We will be holding a Registration Day for prospective WPS students on the 21st April 2012 - this day will allow you to visit the College and see the excellent facilities,
academic wings and boarding houses.
Please note that this registration day IS NOT for students who are considering joining the college via the MOD funded
scheme, for further information on applying via the MOD please see our MOD Application Procedure
page.
Welbeck DSFC is now opening its doors to non-military students who would wish to take advantage of our facilities without having to commit to a future Military or Civil Service Career; that is not to say they cannot join in the ensuing years though!
The Welbeck Private Scheme (WPS) takes sixth formers through an AS and A level programme with a co-curricular programme of military, leadership and fitness training. The College is proud of its academic prowess within the technical and engineering subjects; but this new scheme also now enables students to make best use of our facilities without the requirement for a military or civil service career.
The scheme ideally best suits those students who are likely to achieve either a grade A or A* in Mathematics and Physics (or Dual Award Science) at GCSE level. We recruit from the full range of state sector schools and we look to give that special youngster from these schools a unique opportunity to make a head start with their career at an early stage.
If you have reached this page it means you are interested in applying for a place at the College - well done and congratulations - you have taken the first step.....to the 'Welbeck Experience' where you will develop leadership qualities, discipline and self-confidence through a superior 6th form experience.
The WPS will complement the core student body which are sponsored by the UK's Royal Navy, Army, RAF and MoD Civil Service. As part of the Scheme you are outside the Ministry of Defence Scheme and you are not going on to join the Armed Services as part of the wider student body.
Following completion of your two years at the Sixth Form College - you will be able to move on to a University Degree course or leave the College and start a successful career as a leader at the forefront of your chosen profession. Please study the pages on this website and make sure you understand what is required of you or your sons and daughters whilst they are at Welbeck.
If having read this and viewed the other pages on this website you want to come to the College - then please do complete this form to arrange an Open Day slot, on completing the form you will be contacted by our Admissions Staff and an appointment will be made for you to visit the College.
'No other UK Sixth form offers what we do. Our bespoke courses, our extra-curricular activities and our results, speak for themselves. The educational experience here is all about focus and being amongst people of a similar mind.'
Principal, Tony Halliwell
