  • STEM Outreach Visit to McLaren Automotive

    On Monday, March 2nd, nine year 13 students and five DTUS students from Loughborough University had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking as part of the college’s STEM outreach day.

     

  • DE&S Visit to MOD Main Building and the Houses of Parliament

    As the day dawned on Wednesday 15th January, twelve Defence Engineering and Support (DE&S) Year 12 Welbexians departed for their day trip to London to visit the Ministry of Defence and the Houses of Parliament.

     

  • Year 12 Royal Navy Trip

    On 2 December, 24 Year 12 Royal Navy students went to Portsmouth for a visit to the Damage Repair Instructional Unit (DRIU) and Fire Fighting School. We drove down the night before and stayed on HMS Bristol.

  • Royal Navy Merlin Visit

    On Tuesday 12th of November, a group of 15 students were given the opportunity to fly in a Royal Navy Merlin Mk4 transport helicopter.

    On Sunday 10th November friends and family joined the Welbeck Students and Staff for their annual Remembrance Service around the fountains. The rain of Saturday had cleared and despite being cold, it was a glorious morning.

  • Year 13 Royal Navy Trip 2019

    During the second week back at College the Royal Navy Year 13 students departed for our first Royal Navy visit to Whale Island in Portsmouth.  It was a flying visit, lasting just twenty four hours, but it was a very educational day.   We left Welbeck at 16:00 after lessons and made the three hour journey down to HMS Bristol, our accommodation for the night.  HMS Bristol was initially designed to defend a class of aircraft carriers which were never built and it is the only Type 82 destroyer ever built for the Royal Navy.

  • Outstanding A level results for Welbeck's students

    The students from Welbeck - The Defence Sixth Form College have achieved some excellent A level results this year, with 32% of all A levels being awarded A* or A grade. The College achieved a 99% pass rate with 82% of those achieving A*-C.  This is an impressive achievement considering every student at the College is required to study Maths to A level and over 75% study Physics A level.

  • Annual General Inspection and Prize Giving 2019

    Saturday 6th July, the Principal welcomed VIP's, parents, families and friends to the end of year celebrations at The Defence Sixth Form College (DSFC).  This event is the most prestigious in the College calendar and marks the culmination of the year and graduation of the Year 13 students.

  • Exercise Welbeck Trail 2019

    Exercise Trail, the annual Year 12 Adventurous Training exercise began on the afternoon of Monday 17th June. We travelled up from Welbeck to Halton Training Camp in Lancaster, had our initial brief and moved into our accommodation. We were later briefed on the activities that we would be partaking in over the week.

  • French Exchange 2019

    The Spring Term 2019 marked the third cycle of the exchange visits between Welbeck DSFC and Lycée Militaire de Saint-Cyr which is a military school located to the west of Paris near the famous Palace of Versailles. 

  • Closure of the Defence Technical Officer and Engineer Entry Scheme

    On Monday the 11th March the Government announced the closure of the Defence Technical Officer and Engineer Entry Scheme (DTOEES).  As the first stage of the Scheme, Welbeck - The Defence Sixth Form College will be closing in July 2021 with this September’s entry being its last.

  • Italian Exchange 2019

    On Saturday the 16th of February, as the rest of College left for Half Term, ten students from year 12 moved into Nelson, eagerly anticipating their week ahead. This of course was the brand new Italian exchange trip, with the Teulié military school in Milan.

    On Wednesday 16th of January, the Welbeck DE&S (Defence Engineering and Science) Yr 12 students embarked on an amazing day’s experience to visit the Main Building of the MOD, the place which they all aspire to be working at in the future.

  • An audience with Mark 'Billy' Billingham

    On 22 November, approximately forty students travelled to Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre for a night with Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham, Channel Four’s SAS: Who Dares Wins star, former Paratrooper and ex-Sergeant Major in the SAS.

    On Sunday 11th November friends and family joined the Welbeck students and staff for their annual Remembrance Service around the fountains.  Despite rain earlier that morning, the weather cleared and the sun came out for the Parade.

  • Exercise Return - Yorkshire Dales

    Last weekend our Yr 13 students went on Exercise Return.  The exercise challenges our students to clime three major peaks in the Yorkshire Dales.

  • Trip to the USA

    Two students took part in an incredible week long Cadet Leadership Course alongside a group from the UK including two former Welbeck students on the DTUS scheme. The week comprised of a range of leadership, adventurous training and navigation activities with the US Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  This is Henry’s account of the trip.

    Snowdon, the largest mountain in Wales at 1,085m, was a great climb on a great day. As a result of the keen interest of Jamie Easton, a trip was organised for two groups of twelve to climb this mountain.

  • Welbeck celebrates the Year of the Engineer by hosting the Cadet STEM Leadership Challenge 2018

    On the 21st and 22nd of March Welbeck - The Defence Sixth Form College hosted its annual Cadet STEM Leadership Challenge.  23 teams of Cadets from across the country set up camp on the College’s rugby pitch for the weekend.  The teams, who were each hosted by College students, came from a variety of units including Air Cadets, Sea Cadets, Army Cadet Forces and Combined Cadet Forces.
