Digital advertising

We use many tactics to ensure that the most relevant people see our advertising. Sometimes we carry out digital advertising to support the communication of information about the College to people.  Digital advertising includes a variety of methods that allow advertisers (including us) to advertise to people that we think will be most interested in our campaign. To help us do this we use third parties through our media buyer that specialise in advertising using online advertising technology. When we engage these third parties, we work very closely with them to ensure that they are as committed to protecting your data as we are.

Except as set out in this notice, we do not share any of your personal data with these third parties.  However, many of them use other sources of data (from other public and private organisations) to help identify groups of people that we would like to advertise to. This is known as 'profiling'.

The organisations we use may collect information such as:

• mobile device IDs,

• IP addresses,

• Social media information,

• Location,

• Browsing information,

• Time spent on websites and

• Online content viewed

We use this data to help our advertising to be as relevant as possible to the people who see it and to improve the performance of our advertising. We are committed to ensuring that we only work with organisations that have carried out these activities in accordance with the law (including the GDPR) and your rights as an individual.  We have therefore limited the types of organisations that our suppliers (media buyer) can work with for our advertising campaigns, to ensure that we are comfortable with the manner in which our campaigns may target you. If you wish to object to us collecting and using your data to target you please contact

The College and MOD does not access or make any direct use of profiled data collected by these organisations and this data is not used to make any automated decisions about you.
